The F430 was a big deal when it first came out in 2004. It was a remarkable step up from the iconic 360 Modena, while beautiful at it’s time, hasn’t always aged so well in contrast to the other Ferrari models. This Black 2006 F430 Spider came to us with a need to restore the paint, and then protect the finish for the new owner to enjoy for years without a need to be overly cautious about any damage to the paint.
This 8 year old F430, which still looks extremely modern in flesh, had less than 16,000 miles when it came to us. That’s not much at all when you think of it, yet the paint looked like it had seen about 40,000 – 50,000 miles of driving. This is most likely due to poor washing technique throughout it’s lifetime. Even poor hand-washing technique can swirl up the particularly soft paint on the F430.
We performed a mild paint correction on the paint and also removed paint contaminations with a synthetic clay – which also acts to remove irons deposits in the paint. A mild polish over the paint cleared up about 90% of the swirls from improper washing, and we didn’t want to take away too much paint. The 10% remaining would be hidden by the clear bra film anyway.
We apologize for the lack of before pictures, as the rainy weather only allowed for a short working time frame. Rest assured that the pictures all have an F430 with FULL clear bra paint protection installed. No visible seams anywhere, folded edges when possible, and all emblems removed for a no-seam finish. It’s all in the details.
Headlights were also detailed over again. The original lights had a factory installed clear bra on the headlights that was not snug to the edges, faded and browning. We removed it, refinished the headlight and applied Xpel Ultimate clear bra on it sealed it to the edges so there are no seams. It also helps make the headlight look much glossier as it acts like a fresh coating of clear coat.
